Wide-margin win for Harmonya Maker
she’s a nice mare and there is plenty of improvement in her. Jack said she will come on from it too. She has been schooling well at home and jumped great. She will jump a fence in time. She could go anywhere over two and a half miles on soft ground. It was a good performance.
Gerri Colombe stretches unbeaten run to six
that was a good performance and Jack said he’ll come on a bit from it — he had a good blow. We always thought he was a nice horse. the ground was a bit quick one day and he came home a bit sore from Thurles. We were minding him and knew he was going to be a chaser. I doubt if he’ll come back here for the Drinmore in a couple of weeks time. He could go to Limerick at Christmas; you probably wouldn’t get it soft enough for him at Leopardstown. He doesn’t have to have it soft but he seems so effective on it.
Broomfield Hall completes four-timer
I was a bit worried about the ground the way they finished in the first hurdle race. It looks like she has improved and there is a mares’ handicap here at the big meeting in a few weeks but that may come a bit quick. We’ll probably miss a bit of the heavier ground and aim for the spring as that seemed to be her time last season. She also had her wind done earlier this year and then won twice. She’s won her last four now. Jeremy is some sire.
Victory for visitors in Lorna Brooke's challenge race
he rarely runs a bad race but for some reason he didn’t put his best foot forward in Galway — I couldn’t put my finger on it and was a bit worried coming here. Maxine gave him a brilliant ride and he was foot perfect all the way. They are a great syndicate (On The Green Syndicate) that own him and he is a great fun horse. There is a race in Thurles in two weeks that we may look at.
Ferns Lock wins hunters chase for Christie and O'Neill
he’s a very nice horse; normally I would like to take him up through the point-to-point ranks to learn, but the opportunity arose and we’ll work away at this game. Ray (Nicholas, owner) wanted a really nice hunter chaser, that’s what I went looking for and he has very similar traits and quality to Winged Leader. he’s a big strong horse and does the same kind of things at home and his jumping is very good. Barry gave him a great education today and the nice thing about him is every time he’s ran he’s stepped up from it. Barry said he could have gone around again and he’s quite an exciting horse to have. He could turn up in a winners’ somewhere and maybe contest the Tetratema later in the season. I don’t want to overface him at this stage as he’s only five. That’s only his fourth run and fingers crossed we have years to work with him.

Gordon's Glory days as Gigginstown win bumper
he’s a big galloping horse and will go jumping hurdles now. It was a bonus to go for a bumper. It’s been a good day.
