Tattersalls change November sale
Tattersalls Ireland today announced the restructuring of the November Breeders’ Flat Sale to what will now be known as the November Yearling Sale.The sale will take place on the weekend of November 17th and 18th 2012 and has previously been the source of notable winners including Group 1 winners Paco Boy and Snow Fairy along with Stakes winners Bible Black, Bob Le Beau and Berg Bahn to name just a few.
Guineas sale proves strongBrisk trade was the order of the day at the Tattersalls Guineas Breeze Up & Horses in Training Sale on the eve of Guineas weekend in Newmarket.Competition for the breeze up section of the catalogue was especially strong with a clearance rate of 80% and the 78 lots sold realising a total of 2,153,250 guineas at an average of 27,606 guineas and a median of 21,000 guineas. Earlier the horses in training section had realised 261,400 guineas for the 26 lots sold headed by the Group 3 winner Fanunalter. The two sections together saw a total of 104 lots sold for 2,414,650 guineas.
Punchestown sale proves successAn outstanding renewal of Goffs Punchestown Invitation Sale recorded major increases across the board and a top price that surpassed that of the inaugural sale last year.Turnover grew by 39% to €1,413,000, average was up 22% to €88,313 and median rose 60% to €80,000. Alan Potts purchased the top two lots of the select sale, headed by Grey Monk (Lot 18) at €210,000. |
Light tops low key affair
A low key renewal of the DBS April HIT Sales ended with a turnover of £182,500, an average figure of £4,345 and a Median of £3,600.£14,000 was enough to secure the highest priced horse when German trainer Christian Von Der Recke bought the winning Chink Of Light from Anna Bramall’s Merry Hall Farm.
The five year old son of Dr Fong finished third in the Group 3 Chester Vase and is an exciting dual purpose prospect for new connections.

Tally Ho colt sets DBS record
A new record price for a DBS Breezer helped the turnover to rise by 13% to £3,601,500, the average to increase by 1% to £29,520, the median improved by 20% to £24,000 and the sale returned a healthy 77% clearance rate.Tony and Roger O’Callaghan’s Tally Ho Stud broke the second record in as many weeks when selling the highest priced DBS Breezer ever at £300,000.
