First Winkle foal born at Coolmore

The first foal by Champion 3yo miler Rip Van Winkle arrived at Coolmore Stud.

Miss Khaya, a daughter of Champion sire Danehill Dancer and out of the Group winning Beneventa, foaled a bay filly on Monday evening.

Bred by Lady Laidlaw of Rothiemay, the filly is the second foal from her dam, following a yearling colt by Montjeu.

"We couldn't be happier with Rip Van Winkle's first foal, she is full of quality and overall a lovely correct individual," said Eddie Fitzpatrick, manager at Coolmore.

Timeform's highest rated son of Galileo at stud, Rip Van Winkle won three Gr.1 races including the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes and Sussex Stakes. He stands at Coolmore for €17,500.
