Sale topping Dutch Art colt
Trade was headed by the sale of a Dutch Art colt from the family of Champion two year old Airwave (Lot 32).
Consigned by Norman Williamson's Oak Tree Farm, he was purchased by David Redvers for £80,000.
The first lot under the hammer was a son of American stallion Harlan's Holiday from Lynn Lodge Stud (Lot 1). The brother to four winners is out of a Kingmambo mare and was sold to Jane Allison for £70,000.
Blandford Bloodstock later paid £65,000 a Speightstown colt (Lot 75), sire of last year’s Norfolk Stakes winning Kempton graduate Bapak Chinta. The colt was consigned by Kilminfoyle House Stud.
The same vendor also sold an Invincible Spirit half brother to multiple Group winner Hurricane Alan (Lot 73) for £60,000 to Ron Harris – one of six two year olds bought by the trainer who enjoyed Group success with Kempton graduate Glamorous Spirit at the Curragh in 2010.
Among Harris’ other purchases was Bansha House Stables daughter of Acclamation (Lot 33) for £50,000. The sale’s leading purchaser was SackvilleDonald, acquiring seven lots headed by Hillwood Stud’s Exceed And Excel colt (Lot 95) bought for £60,000.
Commenting at the conclusion of another strong Kempton Sale, Goffs Chief Executive Henry Beeby commented:
"Today’s sale was a consolidation of the massive gains made in 2011. We are more than happy with a very solid trade which all but matched last year’s excellent sale and over the two years the average and median have shown 50% advances.
"The clearance rate of 83% from a bigger catalogue demonstrates the depth of the market and all we probably missed was a six figure horse which has resulted in a slight drop in average. However the 10% advance in turnover is most gratifying and there was a real buzz from start to finish.
"Kempton remains an unrivalled location for a Breeze Up Sale and our new later date this year and last makes all the difference. Our thanks to the Breeze Up vendors who have again provided an excellent catalogue of ready made winners and we look forward to following them throughout the season."
