A low key renewal of the DBS April HIT Sales ended with a turnover of £182,500, an average figure of £4,345 and a Median of £3,600.

£14,000 was enough to secure the highest priced horse when German trainer Christian Von Der Recke bought the winning Chink Of Light from Anna Bramall’s Merry Hall Farm.

The five year old son of Dr Fong finished third in the Group 3 Chester Vase and is an exciting dual purpose prospect for new connections.

Yesterday’s £300,000 sale topper was out of the Group 2 Flying Childers winner Wunders Dream and her three year old son of Teofilo - named Spartilla and already the winner of the three races for James Given – was sold for a somewhat smaller price when bought by Daniel O’Brien for £12,000.

The six time winning Quinsman was bought for the same amount by Gerald Bailey after he was offered by Stan Moore’s Berkeley House Stables.

Following the conclusion of the sale, DBS Managing Director Henry Beeby said:

In line with recent broad spectrum Horses in Training sales, we have experienced some spirited bidding for the nicer form horses but there is little demand for horses that don’t tick all the boxes.

"We now look forward to our market leading Spring Sales for NH Stores and Horses In Training with some confidence as we continue to take the large number of entries from the usual clients as well as the high profile Lots from those that continue to recognise this is a sale that regularly outperforms the competition."
