Another big priced winner at Cork and another horse that attracted morning support – Clara More from 33/1 to an SP of 12/1 in the two mile Mallow Print Handicap.

The seven-year-old son of Luso, who had bottom weight in the handicap, travelled well and picked up the lead two out. He quickened away after the last under Adrian Heskin to win by two and three parts from Frankie Flowers who set off in pursuit coming to the last, but made no further headway at 8/1.

Local trainer Eoghan O’Grady has Clara More and he said: “Unfortunately the owner Willie O’Leary couldn’t make it tonight. He’s from Millstreet, Co Cork and his claim to fame is that in 1963 he recorded the highest personal score against Kerry in a 60 minute Munster final.

“Clara More may go to Killarney next Thursday for a similar handicap. He won a point-to-point in the spring and he jumps well so we’ll probably go back over fences at some stage.”

There were 14 runners in the contest and Urhavinalaugh at 6/1 occupied third place. Silver Chief was the market leader at 7/4, but he finished ninth.

Eoghan O'Grady snapped a run of 37 losers at Cork spanning 2063 days with Clara More's success.
