The Eddie Lynam trained Yulong Baoju readily justified her 2/5 starting price when winning the opening Dundalk Stadium Race at Dundalk today for jockey Pat Smullen.
The daughter of Acclamation was well clear of today's rivals on ratings and moved to the front over a furlong out before recording a comfortable win over My Good Brother The winner's half brother Almadaa (by Exceed And Excel) filled third spot.
Afterwards Lynam joked “she was entitled to win at the weights but handicap ratings are made by people who can't bet and can change their minds everyday!”
“With 14lb in hand it was the obvious race to go for. It was a nice bit of work for her and she didn't exert herself too much; she was always going to win but didn't win like she had 14lbs in hand. She's good and very straightforward and my feeling with all these sprinters is that practice makes them better. We're looking forward to training her next year and she'll probably go for a handicap at the Curragh next Saturday; surely the handicapper will drop her a few pounds now!”
