Blinkers make sure Doyle's charge aint finished

Mon 1st Aug 2011, 16:02

Eoin Doyle and Shay Barry will be in opposite camps when Kilkenny and Waterford do battle in the All-Ireland hurling semi-final next Sunday but at Cork today they were a formidable alliance in the www.mallow.ie Hurdle as Barry drove For A Finish to success for Mooncoin trainer Doyle.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing but Ninth Legion looked a short price at 4/7 for this three miler and ultimately he couldn't contain the four times previous winner For A Finish up the straight. The victorious first-time blinkered son of Beat All made a mistake at the final flight but he forged on under a strong ride afterwards to prevail.

Shay Barry said: "The blinkers might have helped him a bit. Three miles and a galloping track suited him and he battled it out well to the line."
