Boot kicks into gear at Cork again
Bootlegger followed up his success at Cork from a fortnight back by landing the Mallow Town Summer BBQ Race Evening Hurdle by two and a half lengths. Iron Duke (completing a miserable evening for his trainer John Murphy) looked a big danger going to the last but he didn't land running and the Davy Russell ridden winner stayed on well from that point to prevail.
Tom Mullins said of the Pat O'Donovan-owned winner: "It is great that he done that. He has had his troubles but these type of races suit him. We might give him a go in a handicap but we'll probably stick to novices.
"If he doesn't measure up there he'll go chasing. We'll keep him going for the summer."
