Breeze breaks duck

Sat 9th Jul 2011, 16:32

Brazilian Breeze gained an overdue win in the Knockanglass Stables Maiden at Tipperary.

Kevin Prendergast 's charge was a warm order (4/11f) and ended a series of placed efforts when running out a cosy winner in the five-furlong contest.

Declan McDonogh sent his mount up to challenge over a furlong from home and nursed her into the lead in the closing stages for a three-parts-of-a-length success over front-runner Sovereign Secure

The pair came together in the closing stages but the result stood after the stewards had a look.

It was a double on the card for McDonogh after the earlier victory of Acushladear in the Ballykisteen Handicap.

"She'll go for a fillies handicap at the Curragh in three weeks time," revealed Lady O'Reilly's racing manager James Kelly.

"She barely gets six furlongs and Declan feels she's possibly rated high enough for what she has done.

"She's the first foal of a Group Three winner so I'm delighted to win with a home-bred."
