Bright New Dawn justified favouritism in the three runner Micro Dog ID Chase, providing his jockey Bryan Cooper with a treble on the card (won earlier on Fire in Soul and Water Sprite .

The son of Presenting was also completing a treble for owners Gigginstown House Stud while it was the second winner of the day for trainer Gordon Elliott.

Without a win in nearly two years, the nine-year-old was sent off the 1/2 favourite today having finished second on his last start over hurdles at Navan last month.

Settled in rear he improved into second five out and travelled strongly to challenge the front-running Rubi Light on the approach to two out.

He led after that fence and was pushed out on the run-in to score by a length and a three parts.

Rubi Light (15/8) finished second while Glenquest was forty-nine lengths back in last.

Gordon Elliott said afterwards: "That was grand to get his head in front, although Bryan said he hated the tacky ground.

"We’ll keep him entered up in those conditions races, and it’s possible he could go for something like the Grand Annual at Cheltenham. There will be a fast pace and we could drop him in."
