Well-backed favourite Chatterton s withdrawal at the start of the www.dundalkstadium.com Handicap necessitated a 30 cent Rule 4 after he broke out through the stalls. The mile event eventually went the way of the Daniel Redmond-ridden Cheers Buddy who bounced back to form.

Only a length and a half covered the first four home here, with second and fourth placers, Basilica and Gold Tantrum having looked big threats in the closing stages.

"He just hasn't fired for me this season but he's now won four for me," explained successful handler Lee Smyth.

"We were scratching our head wondering why he hadn't won and I had told everyone to back him the last few times.

"It wasn't the hottest race tonight and if he wasn't able to win that we were in trouble.

"Daniel won on him the last time and knows him well. He's had a great start to the year.

"He travelled well tonight and I knew on the bend he was the winner.

"I couldn't be happier. He's changed hands since his last three wins and that's his first win for Yvonne Lowe."

The Stewards informed Paul W. Flynn, trainer that Chatterton, would have to be recertified before being declared to run from stalls again.
