Gatsby Cap gained rewards for his consistency when getting up late to claim the Gain Equine Nutrition Apprentice Handicap at Gowran Park.

The Fozzy Stack was a winner at Dundalk in late April and has been placed three times since, including twice over course and distance. Zayriyan got his rivals at work early in the straight in the mile contest but Andy Slattery got a good tune from Gatsby Cap in the closing stages.

The Gale Force Ten colt chased down that rival close home to secure a head sucess.

“He's tough anyway, in fairness to him, because he hasn't been spared,” said Stack.

“That's his fourth run in a month. We'll keep tipping away with him. It's great for Richard, and he saw him winning — it's not often it works out like that.

“Andy gave him a good ride.”
