The Pat Colville trained Poetic Lady improved one placing on her recent runner-up effort at Ballinrobe when landing the concluding Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Mares (Ladies) Bumper at Roscommon today.
Ridden by Jane Mangan, the daughter of Yeats stayed on well in the closing stages for a two lengths win over Petuna and afterwards Colville stated "she's a lovely filly. It didn't look a bad race but we thought we had a great chance after the last day and she'd had improved a good bit.
"We'll more than likely have a crack at the winners bumper at Galway. She likes good ground and probably just got away with it."
