Trainer Henry De Bromhead and jockey Rachael Blackmore combined to record a double at Gowran today as Spyglass Hill continued the pair's excellent form with victory in the Download The BoyleSports App Beginners Chase.
De Bromhead and Blackmore have combined for five Grade 1 wins already this season and having bagged a fourth Grade 2 success with Chris's Dream in the 35-minutes earlier 2.54pm Red Mills Chase, doubled their score for the afternoon with Spyglass Hill.
The son of Morozov survived hairy jumping errors at the third last and last fences but eventually beat runner-up Milan Native by six lengths.
Afterwards De Bromhead stated “he looked to be going well in Naas and obviously fell and it looks like he's more-or-less learned his lesson from there hopefully.
“He jumped really well and was clever today. Rachael took her time and she said he picked up well up the straight.
“It's brilliant for his owner Niall O'Leary. He's improving all the time and we could maybe look at the novice handicap at Cheltenham. We'll see how he is as he's been busy enough recently.
“I think he's only learning and I was half tempted to go back hurdling mid-way through this season.
“We bought him after one run in a point-to-point and it's just taken so long for the penny to drop about the whole thing. He's still getting there but is improving all the time.”
