The Henry De Bromhead trained Domesday Book landed the opening Irish Stallion Owners European Breeders Fund Maiden Hurdle at Navan today, improving one placing on two previous runner-up efforts.

Bred by the Queen and ridden today by Andrew Lynch, the son of Street Cry raced prominently throughout and led from three out. From there the gelding maintained his gallop to beat off Fort Smith by four and a quarter lengths.

Afterwards De Bromhead stated “he's a lovely horse, big and still very immature. I was hoping for that but he's such a baby and the penny is only starting to drop.

"Andrew gave him a super ride and it's great to get a winner for the Brookhouses (owners)."
