The Tony Martin trained Marinero completed a double at Fairyhouse today for owner Michael O'Leary (Gigginstown House Stud) and retained jockey Bryan Cooper, when causing a minor upset to win the Happy 80th Birthday Peter Donnelly Maiden Hurdle (Div 2) at 10/1.

The winner, clear third pick in the market, outbattled Long Dog (11/8 second favourite) on the run-in, for a half length win with a further three and a quarter lengths beck to 11/10 favourite Fine Article

Martin later stated “he won his bumper well here and he jumped well today which was great. He wears the hood as he was a little bit free as a young horse but he has coped on now.”

Cooper and Gigginstown had earlier combined to win the first division of the same race with Sub Lieutenant
