Double up for Geraghty
Barry Geraghty doubled his tally for the afternoon, when Spirit River credited the Meath man with his second victory in the Coral Cup, after the 14/1 shot jumped for fun to beat Tullamore Dew.
The winner is trained by Nicky Henderson, who is now leading trainer at the festival and a good jump at the last sealed the issue and the five year old ran on powerfully on the flat for a comfortable success.
Wishful Thinking was very much in contention when he came down at the second last, hampering Silverhand who was beginning to creep into the race at the time.
Geraghty said: "That was a good performance. They didn't go that quick so I made sure I was in a good position all the way and he jumped brilliantly for a five-year-old.
"I had a fair idea he'd stay but he's only five - he did it really well.
"Nicky is the best man to ride for, especially here, he is such a gent and it makes my job easier."
