Dunboyne impresses at the Curragh

Sun 18th Jul 2010, 14:51

The Jebel Ali Stables & Racecourse Anglesey Stakes produced an impressive winner as Dunboyne Express ran out an eight length victor in the hands of Declan McDonogh.

McDonogh had the son of Shamardal at the head of affairs from halfway in the Group 3 event, before sprinted clear of his rivals over a furlong out for an easy success over even money favourite Samuel Morse

Winning trainer Kevin Prendergast said afterwards: “He’s a smart horse. Maybe the opposition didn’t handle the ground but he likes it.”

“He's always shown us that he’s a nice horse. He’s come on a lot from Leopardstown and he learnt a lot.”

“If we get nice ground he could run in the Keeneland Phoenix Stakes, and he is also in the National Stakes.”

Boylesports have quoted Prendergast’s charge at 20/1 for the 2000 Guineas.
