Flood Rewarded in Finale

Wed 6th Aug 2008, 21:28

Like David Casey, Paddy Flood is a rider experiencing a fine run, and after being beaten a head on An Cailin Coole in the first division of the www.TheTote.com Handicap Hurdle, the Kildare man was determined not to leave Sligo empty handed.

He was headed on the line in the 8.15 by Larry Byrne's Supreme Deck who prevailed under Andrew McNamara. This Co. Wexford-trained mare was having her third start in a row at Sligo, so those marathon journeys have eventually paid-off.

The Cutbush native got the best out of Steve Mahon's Miriams Rose in the 8.45, as the daughter of Saddlers' Hall beat Ardilaun by two lengths. Chaussettes the well-backed favourite, finished down the field in eighth.

Miriams Rose helped make up for Mahon's disappointment in the previous race with Greengables (EM)
