Force Of Habit romps home for Weld and Smullen

Fri 22nd Oct 2010, 21:49

Dalakhani gelding Force Of Habit dominated Dundalk's finale, the one mile two furlong handicap. Pat Smullen sent his charge to the front under two furlongs out and the 3/1 joint favourite came home four lengths clear of Accompanist

Fellow joint favourite Flattery was a half length back in third. Flattery was the subject of support off-course from 6/1 to 4/1 and further support on track saw her price contract to 3/1.

The winner was Pat Smullen's 89th of his campaign to be crowned champion jockey. It brought up a Dundalk double on the night for trainer Dermot Weld.

Jockey Smullen said: "He is improving and getting better all the time. He's making into a good dual purpose horse."
