Gilligan's Tornado blows Sligo rivals away
Paul Gilligan is a man to be feared at Sligo and he struck again in the concluding Ladies Day at Sligo 4th August Flat Race with the Mikey O'Connor-ridden One Cool Tornado
This fellow took over from the front-running favourite, Morning Legend over three furlongs out and he showed the benefit of his experience up the straight to fend off the promising first-timer, Ross Bay by two and a half lengths.
Gilligan said: "He has been knocking at the door for long enough and that will set him up for a maiden hurdle at Galway now. He would have run in the maiden hurdle here but it was for four-year-olds only."
The victorious owners, the Kings & Rovers Syndicate are a County Offaly grouping and they were still on a high after their football and hurling double in Tullamore last night.
