On his fourth try Alan Glynn had a first success, one he'll really remember, as his mount Burren View Lady made all and held on at odds of 16/1 in the Christmas Party Nights At Dundalk Stadium Apprentice Handicap.

Making use of their draw in box one, Glynn and Burren View Lady made their intentions known from the start, shooting straight into a good lead.

They could have done without An Saighdiur s close attentions, but the now twelve time victor shrugged aside her veteran rival in the straight.

It was soon apparent that the pack really had their work cut out to reel in Denis Hogan's charge.

They did close, but not in time, and at the line Burren View Lady was three parts of a length and half a length up on the market-leaders, Timia and Rose Anjou

"Denis told me to keep her handy and see how I get on," said Glynn (19).

"She was going well turning in so I was happy enough to kick on. She just kept going.

"I've been based with Denis for the past year. I'm from Galway originally (like the owner/breeders of Burren View Lady, the Is The All Syndicate), and have no background with horses, but horse racing was always what I wanted to do from a young age.

"I'm getting the chance now which is great. I done a small bit of showjumping before.

"My weight is good enough at the moment. I'll keep working and hopefully pick up a few more."

The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Try Again trained by Paul W. Flynn, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.

Paul W. Flynn, trainer of Try Again, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his charge was flat out throughout and may need further.

R. Coakley, rider of Bubbly Bellini trained by Adrian McGuinness, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount got tight for room out of the back straight.
