The David Kelly trained Good Luck Chuck landed the Broomhill Point Handicap Chase under Declan Bates.
Bates was out of luck in the previous beginners' chase on Mayo Mystique (headed close home) but steered the eight year old gelding to his second career win in the 3m1f contest.
Afterwards Ballygar, Co Galway based Kelly said “I have seven horses in training at the moment and I'm delighted for Good Luck Chuck's owner Sean Maguire, from Newry. This is his first horse with me.
“Good Luck Chuck will probably go for another handicap chase now and with a bit of luck he'll win another. He'll be kept on the go for the summer and Declan gave him a great ride.”
