Hall promoted at Wood's expense
Hatton's Wood just fended off Old Hall by a short head in the Hilary Murphy Travel Handicap Steeplechase but he lost the race in an enquiry after interfering with the runner-up on the run-in at Wexford.
Hatton's Wood under Andrew Thornton, drifted across the eventual third, Artiste Bay checking him, when he still had every chance, and then carried Old Hall left. With only the minimum margin separating them at the line a change in the placings always seemed a distinct possibility.
Old Hall, the 5/2 favourite is trained by Willie Codd and was ridden by Barry Geraghty. Fellow Wexford horse, Hatton's Wood is trained by Philip Redmond and was ridden by Andrew Thornton. The latter got a severe caution to ride with more care in the future.
Meanwhile Sun Tzu who fell at the seventh here, trapped Adrian Heskin underneath him, and he was concussed and was taken to the local hospital as a result. The horse was okay.
