Heather records fifth win
Mountain Heather recorded her fifth win under rules when produced with a well-timed challenge by Andrew McNamara to land the Ladbrokes (Mares) Handicap Hurdle.
The 14/1 chance, who paid a handsome €25.50 for a win on the Tote, struck the front approaching the final flight for a two and a half lengths victory over top-weight The Grey Express (11/2), with 5/1 favourite Lea Lady another four lengths away in third. Ardnavalley (10/1) made much of the running in this two miles and five furlongs event but was headed soon after the penultimate flight and eventually finished fourth.
A stewards enquiry was called after the winner edged right on the run-in, causing slight interference to the second, but the placings remained unaltered.
Winning trainer Michael Hogan said, “She'll probably go for another hurdle but chasing will be her game in the winter. Hopefully we can get another win out of her.”
