Hurdle Plot foiled by bruised foot

Thu 30th Jul 2009, 11:00

Vital Plot, a leading fancy for the Galway Hurdle, was taken out of the race this morning with a bruised foot.

Dermot Weld's charge had been well supported for the contest during the week as his price was slashed from 20/1 to 10/1.

His absence means that first reserve Gay Sloane will take his chance with Nina Carberry getting the leg up.

Weld has also taken Gratified out of the Arthur's Legacy Handicap. The top-weight had been trading at 9/2 second favourite but is a non-runner due to ground.

The ground is currently described as yielding to soft with the forecast for showers today.

The Pat Flynn-trained Final Flashback is also a non-runner in the same race reported stiff.

Wins Now, who finished fifth in the Galway Plate yesterday, will not take up his appointment in the St James's Gate Novice Chase.

Woodland Traveller, who had a heavy fall yesterday, is injured and misses the Signature Novice Hurdle while Onecooleturtle, who was fifth in that race won by Tawaagg, is out stiff and sore.

Other non-runners so far are The Grey Friend in the first race (stone bruise) and Riotman (coughing) in bumper.
