It was lucky 13 for Jackmel at Dundalk tonight as he opened his account in the second division of the seven-furlong handicap.
Sean Davis produced the 6/1 shot to lead inside the final furlong and he stuck on well in the closing stages to post a three-parts-of-a-length victory over Three Majors
The Matt Smith-trained gelding had hinted at a return to form when third over six furlongs on his return to the Flat here last week.
“He did it well in the end,” said Smith.
“He had good form here early in his career as a two-year-old over seven and a mile.
“He lost his form a bit so we said we'd try him over six and he went close last week. He just wanted the extra furlong and it's great to get his head in front.
“I still wouldn't rule out going back to six with him. If he was a bit sharper out last week he would have been very close.”
