Review LISTOWEL 19th Sep

Fri 19th Sep 2008, 17:20

< Keys Pride stayed on strongly in the closing stages to land the Dawn Milk Handicap Chase at Listowel.

Anchored at the rear of the field by Davy Russell, the 8-1 chance still had plenty of ground to make up as the leaders approached the second last.

Stephen Flynn's charge still had plenty in the tank, however, and he got past Holly Tree and Nine O after the last, running on to beat the latter by two lengths.

An enterprising ride from Shay Barry enabled No Full to run out a wide-margin winner of the Jet O'Carroll Memorial Maiden Hurdle.

Allowed to bowl along at the head of affairs, the 7-2 chance pulled well clear and was still tanking along in front on the turn for home.< Jewel Of The West emerged to try and give chase, but it was to no avail, as No Full stayed on well to win by 11 lengths from the running-on Balsaflour < Harbour View won with any amount in hand when cantering to victory in the John Fletcher Memorial Handicap Hurdle.

Always travelling well for Robbie Colgan, the 25-1 chance was not asked a serious question before asserting at the last and running away from Burren Bob to win by seven lengths.< China Rock defied a 152-day absence by landing the John J. Galvin Maiden Hurdle under Paddy Flood.

Long-time leader Gypsy Scholar put up a brave fight after the last, but Mouse Morris' 5-1 chance had too much ammunition close home, running out a four and a half-length winner.< Beneficial Spirit survived a blunder at the final flight before holding on to win the McElligotts Tralee Landrover Maiden Hurdle.

Taking up the running after three out under Shane Jackson, the 8-1 chance was pushed all the way to the line by Emergency Exit but managed to stay in front, winning by a head.
