McNamara bounces back

Wed 27th Jan 2010, 14:34

Andrew McNamara returned to winning ways on his second ride back when Acapulco landed the odds in the 2m7f maiden hurdle.

The Edward O'Grady-trained gelding was produced to lead at the last but the 4/5 favourite had to work close home as The Book Thief finished well to get within three-parts-of-a-length.

McNamara, was having his first day back since suffering neck injuries in a fall from Luska Lad at Naas eight days ago.

"I thought that lad would do it on form," said the winning jockey afterwards.

"This wouldn't be his trip in that ground but on better ground he'll get it. He just got tired in the finish. It's tough going out there."
