Jockey Seamie Heffernan produced the Liam O'Brien trained McTaggart with perfect timing to win the Bet Online At thetote.com Handicap (Div I) at Bellewstown today. Corker Hill was clear and had set for home in the home straight but Heffernan left enough in reserve to eventually make rapid headway inside the final furlong to head the leader close home before scoring a two lengths win.
Afterwards Co Cork based O'Brien stated “I thought the other horse (runner-up Corker Hill) had slipped us but Seamie gave him a peach of a ride and the last half furlong up the hill helped us.
“McTaggart has had a few problems but is right now and ran well in the Curragh the last day - hopefully he continues like that. He is owned by my sister (Mary O'Brien).”
