Mile claims Clonmel opener

Thu 6th May 2010, 17:24

Oneeeightofamile ran out a convincing winner of the opening two-mile maiden at Clonmel this evening.

Pat Smullen produced his mount to lead a furlong-and-a-half from home and he stayed on in great style to score by five-and-a-half lengths from Montero

"He's a nice horse and is still learning. He won his bumper at Dundalk and might go back there for a handicap as he likes the track," said winning trainer John Kiely.

"He's a summer horse and hopefully we'll have a bit of fun with him. The owners are a syndicate from Waterford."
