There was plenty happening in the Listed Cork Stakes but nothing should detract from a decent performance from winner, Great Minds under Wayne Lordan.

Joseph O'Brien never looked particularly happy on the visiting hot favourite, Aetna here, as last year's winner An Saighdiur cut it out.

O'Brien went for a run on the rail, inside the pace-setter, under two furlongs out. Any space that was there soon closed and Aetna suffered bad interference.

Meanwhile it appeared the hood was a bit late coming off the 2013 victor, Bold Thady Quill in the stalls, and he missed the break.

Ken Condon 's grand old campaigner eventually did stay on for the second spot, a short head up An Saighdiur, but he was never threatening two and a half length scorer, the Terry Corden-owned, Tommy Stack-trained, Great Minds.

The successful chestnut travelled well through the sprint before assuming command a furlong and a half out on the way to a convincing win. There was no amendment to the judge's placings after a steward's enquiry.

The Stewards enquired into possible interference approximately two furlong from home involving An Saighdiur, ridden by W.J. Lee, placed third, Great Minds, ridden by W.M. Lordan, placed first and Aetna (GB), ridden by J.P. O'Brien, placed fifth. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alteration to the judges placings and took no further action.
