Wilcos Mo Chara landed a nice touch in the two-mile handicap hurdle when running out a convincing winner under Conor Brassil.
The Anthony McCann-trained gelding had been backed from 20/1 this morning and went to post an 8/1 shot.
He tracked the leaders before hitting the front two from home. The eight-year-old soon asserted and kept on well in the closing stages to record a length-and-three-quarter win over 40/1 shot Come Dance With Me
9/4 favourite Crystal Pearl crashed out when held in sixth at the last. Thankfully horse and rider (Davy Russell) walked away.
Wilcos Mo Chara had been well-beaten on his return to action at Bellewstown last month.
"We have been holding out for the ground all year, and stepped him back in trip. I always thought he was a two and a half miles horse but its such a stiff track here and I was glad to see the rain coming,” said McCann.
"While he's well and in good form we'll keep rolling along, and I'm delighted for the owner Stuart Andrews, who is a good friend of Rita Shah.
"We have had a tough year but the horses are starting to come right, and it's great for all the owners who have stuck by us."
