James Nash breaks new ground at Kilbeggan this evening, saddling his first runner in the famous green and gold silks of JP McManus.
The former top amateur rider, has tasted plenty of success in the training ranks over the last few seasons, with Tsar Paul, Luisant, Your Busy and Star Of Aragon his most successful horses. Point Of Rescue who is a four-year-old chestnut son of Vinnie Roe, makes his debut for Nash and McManus in the opener at Kilbeggan this evening, the Betpack Maiden Hurdle.
David Casey takes the ride, on the gelding who cost €10,000 as a foal, and he is related to plenty of winners, such as half-brother Rupununi who was great servant to Frank Ennis, winning six times including a Grade 3 contest over hurdles.
Nash said this afternoon: "I’m delighted to have my first runner for JP. It is great to have such a high profile owner in the yard.
"This horse is with us four or five months, he is a nice type, we like him and fingers crossed that he runs a nice race."
