O'Donnell on mark again with Claret

Sat 23rd Oct 2010, 17:43

More Claret caused a 14/1 surprise in the Carne Beginners Chase under Tom Doyle, giving in-form Kilkenny handler Kevin O’Donnell another winner.

This home-bred daughter of Beneficial got to the front before the last despite the attentions of a loose horse and though she got it wrong here, she went on to beat the front-running Spill The Beans by five and a half lengths.

O'Donnell said: "She is a lively little lassie but she is from a very nice flat family. She is home bred by Mrs O'Donnell and we thought the ground was gone for her there but she was able to persist on it. She has had a long season and we'll put her away now."

Meanwhile O'Donnell commented of last Sunday's point-to-point winner, Baby Shine, "she is a smart little lady and she could go for a bumper if she is not sold. Selling is my game."
