Tom Weekes

One Cool winner of opener

Sat 19th Nov 2011, 12:35

The Oliver Brady trained One Cool Shabra booked his place in the juvenile Grade 1 contest at Leopardstown over Christmas following a comprehensive win in the opening Ballymore GAA Christmas Fair & Family Fun Day 3YO Hurdle at Punchestown today.

Ridden by 7lbs claimer Ger Fox, the son of One Cool Cat made all and proved seven lengths too strong for runner-up Thegondolier who had appeared with every chance entering the straight.

A sizeable Brady Bunch then flocked to the winner’s enclosure for the winning trainer’s traditional ‘address’ to punters and the Co Monaghan based handler reported “One Cool Shabra will put it up to ‘em at Christmas!”

“He’s a nice horse, a good one and will run in the Grade 1 juvenile hurdle next. He did a piece of work at Dundalk on Tuesday and he won pulling up. I knew he was well and knew it would take a good one to beat him today.”
