Beau Satchel landed his hat-trick in good style when making the most of getting in as second reserve in the Galway Shopping Centre Handicap at Ballybrit.

Adrian McGuinness' charge was making his first start since scoring at Listowel at the start of June having also been victorious at Cork nine days previous.

He was produced to challenge by Joseph O'Brien turning in and hit the front just inside the final furlong.

The 11/2 shot kept on well in the closing stages as Prime Exhibit ran on to take second, a length adrift.

4/1 favourite Cairdiuil made the running as he attempted to secure his second victory of the week but gave way entering the straight and eventually finished third.

“He hasn't run for two months as there has been no juice in the ground,” explained McGuinness.

“I feel sorry for Declan McDonogh, who has rode work on him, but we just didn't think we'd get a run.

“I think the last time Joseph rode for me he was a 7lb claimer, although that's not that long ago!

“I think he's good enough to compete in a good premier handicap. Soft ground is the key to this fella.

“He didn't rightly handle the track but he got away with it and I think he'll be better over a mile.

“He didn't run on Wednesday because of the ground but it's been worth waiting for.”
