Peach Tree stepped up on her debut fifth to land the opening seven furlong fillies' maiden on Irish Derby weekend at the Curragh.

The daughter of Galileo soon led under Ryan Moore but came off the bridle passing the three pole.

The 6/4 favourite responded to pressure, though, and asserted from her rivals approaching the final furlong.

Newcomer Queen Medb stayed on strongly in the final furlong to close to within half a length of the winner at 8/1. Lightning Amber completed the placings a further two and a half lengths away at 7/1.

Aidan O'Brien said: “She came forward lovely from her first run in Cork and I'm delighted with her.

“She'll step up again. They'll come forward from their first to their second runs and to their third. They keep coming forward.

“She was quick away in Cork and Seamie said to him 'don't be afraid to go forward' because she was quick into her stride. She had the benefit of a run there.

“We'll keep her to those fillies' races. She'll get further and will get a mile. She is a sister to Flattering so she should stay.”

Peach Tree was two places behind Lightning Amber in Cork but reversed that form this evening.

Paddy Power gave Peach Tree a first show of 33/1 for the 1,000 Guineas.
