Fiosrach provided Daniel Redmond with his first winner when successful at Limerick nine days ago, and the gelding gave the Dublin teenager another day to remember when taking the Follow Us On Twitter Apprentice Handicap at Cork.

The Jim Bolger-trained four-year-old has been kept busy of late as he also lined up at Tipperary on Thursday when well out of the placings but the step up here to an extended mile proved fruitful.

Very few got involved in this 16-runner event as Blistering Dancer set a strong pace, with Fiosrach and Trans City for company as the trio were clear entering the straight.

Redmond (18), from Drimnagh, sent the 6/1 chance into what proved a decisive lead over a furlong out, and held on well as Indy Gal came home best of the chasing bunch to get within three quarters of a length.

Trans City was a further half-length adrift in third, with 11/2 favourite Amazing Star in fourth.

Bolger’s travelling head lad Ger Flynn said, “He got into a lot of trouble in Tipperary but came out of the race fresh and well, and he appreciated the step up in trip. Daniel seems to get on well with him.”

The Coolcullen trainer was completing a 76/1 double on the afternoon following the earlier victory of Focus On Venice in the featured six-furlong handicap.
