Robin Hood has punters merrily on their way

Mon 26th Jul 2010, 18:59

The claregalwayhotel.ie EBF Maiden at Galway today saw Dermot Weld lose his two year stranglehold on the Festival's famous maiden, with Robin Hood (7/2 in the morning into 9/4 sp) spoiling the party for Team Ballydoyle.

Weld's 7/4 favourite A Word Apart fared badly in sixth, having missed the break, behind Robin Hood, under Joseph O'Brien, son of winning trainer Aidan O'Brien.

The win was O'Brien Jnr's 18th career success while O'Brien Snr's (not present today) previous winner of the maiden was Lucifer Sam in 2007.
