Champion jockey Davy Russell started 2013 off on a good note as he completed a double at Tramore aboard the Gordon Elliott trained Roi Du Mee (won earlier aboard Milborough in the feature Listed Holden Plant Rentals Chase.

The French bred 8yo son of Lavirco was going for his fourth success in-a-row this afternoon and he delivered in style at the odds of even money favourite.

Having disputed the lead with Ordinary Man for much of the contest he led before the fourth last and despite jumping slightly to his left at the second last he stayed on strongly on the run-in to record an easy seven and a half-length success.

The Edward O’Grady trained Tranquil Sea finished second at 4/1 under Barry Geraghty while Blazing Tempo (2/1) finished a disappointing third a further five lengths back under Paul Townend for Willie Mullins.

Davy Russell said afterwards: "I'm mad about him. We tried to up him in class last year but he wasn’t able for it. He is very good at this level.

"He loves the conditions and he is a real trier. He jumps well but when he meets one wrong you just have to sit quiet and he’ll figure it out for himself."
