Silver swoops late
Silver Canyon was produced late by Padraig Roche to take the bumper on Silver Canyon (9/1) trained by his father Christy.
The 7/4 favourite Dance The Devil looked set to score when travelling well approaching the straight but found little under pressure when tackled first by Mister Music Man (7/1) and then the winner.
Silver Canyon finished with such effect that he had a length and a quarter to spare over Mister Music Man at the line, with Dance The Devil a further two lengths back in third.
Christy Roche said: “We always thought he was a nice horse. He's plenty of speed and I just questioned whether he stayed. I told Padraig to drop him in and come late. He'll run away now for the summer and jumps well. I rode his great grandam Sarah Siddons to win the Irish 1000 Guineas.”
