Snow comes good in style

Thu 26th Jan 2012, 15:22

Snow Spell provided a popular local success for trainer Tom Foley and veteran rider Tom Treacy when taking the Four Star Langton House Hotel Maiden Hurdle in fine style.

The aptly named mare, almost white in colour, was strongly pressed by 9/4 joint favourite Primroseandblue approaching the final flight.

However Snow Spell, available at 20/1 this morning and sent off at 14’s, stayed on really well on the run-in and had five and a half lengths in hand at the line.

The other joint favourite Inish Island was a further four and a half lengths adrift in third.

Foley said, “She’s a very well bred mare. When we bought her we knew she had problems but not as many as she ended up having.

“We will take it one day at a time with her but she will jump a fence in time. She’ll make a nice broodmare, and the ground was not really what we were looking for today.”
