Speed Demon came out on top of a driving finish with Bridies Boy in the three mile maiden hurdle at Cork.

The Gigginstown runner looked set to pick off his rival as he travelled into contention before two out. However, although he soon go his head in front, Bridies Boy refused to yield and fought tooth and nail on the run-in as the pair were locked together.

The 2/1 favourite ridden by Davy Condon for Gordon Elliott prevailed by a nose from the 12/1 chance representing the Brian O'Connell/John Walsh axis.

A stewards' enquiry was called as the pair came close on the run-in, however, the result stood. Positive Approach at 3/1 was nine and a half lengths back in third.
