Strait Of Zanzibar saw out his race well in Naas under Shane Foley as he grabbed another win, this time by half a length at 7/1.

Once frontrunner Befortyfour dropped away, Seanie picked up the lead at the two pole and forged on for home. However, he was pressed by Strait Of Zanzibar. Seanie wilted 100 yards out into third as Toccata Blue (9/2) kept Strait Of Zanzibar honest all the way to the line.

Handler Ken Condon said: “I like these conditions races. It gives horses like him another chance to win a race. I was a bit surprised he went up 1lb as he was beaten five and a half lengths in fourth. His previous highest winning mark was 84 and he’s 87 now.

“Shane said there was a bit of pace in the race. He got a lead and battled well in the last furlong when he needed to. He’s had a good year winning three. He’s been in a very good vein of form. Seven furlongs or a mile is ideal for him.”
