Tay Lane was clipped in from 50/1 to 33/1 when brought down as early as the third flight at Punchestown on Monday evening. Reappearing quickly for the TipperaryRaces.ie Maiden Hurdle the market trend this time was 25s to 33s but that didn't stop the Scorpion mare from bolting in under Donal McInerney.

The Madden family have had a fabulous time with Tay Lane's half-brother, Shake The Bucket.

With McInerney up and claiming 7Ibs Tay Lane was getting plenty of weight and in 'Boots' Madden's words "today they went too quick up front and all fell in a hole."

However she could have hardly achieved victory in better style, coming through from the back to lead two out.

Tay Lane soon quickened clear to easily defeat odds-on favourite Lettre De Cachet by twenty lengths.

"She's a half-sister to Shake The Bucket but had been disappointing at home. Her work lately has been good though. She's for sale," said Madden on his daughter Sarah Ann's five-year-old.

He added: "Tom (Madden, son and Flat jockey) was supposed to ride her but there was a last minute change as she was a maiden and it would be nice to ride Shake The Bucket in a handicap hurdle instead. He'll do a bit of both (hurdles/Flat racing) and that's the plan for him.

"That's Donie's second ride for me and he gave her a great ride and rides well."

A.E. Lynch, rider of Poker Party (FR) trained by Henry de Bromhead, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount made a bad mistake at the first hurdle.
