The Ground & Ruby Help Sherchanceit
Sherchanceit began her career with a third to Cousin Vinny in a bumper at Punchestown in February 2008 but six starts after that proved fruitless. However with Ruby Walsh in the plate for the first time and on her first encounter with good ground, the daughter of Norwich showed what she is capable of.
Leading or disputing, Mary O'Connor's (Tallow, Co. Waterford) mare led four out and she went on from between the last two to account for Kilflora by four lengths. The favourite, Meritorious was a further two and a half lengths adrift in third.
Mrs O'Connor's husband, John said: "A palate problem had been catching her out on bad ground so the good ground here was what she wanted." (EM)
