No Wunder and Wayne Lordan lead them home

No Wunder gained a deserved victory when staying on stoutly to claim the Frank O'Leary Memorial Maiden at Listowel.
Front-runner Mutawed looked to have his field on the stretch turning for home in the mile contest.
Wayne Lordan got a good tune from the 11/8 favourite, however, who stuck well to his task to lead over a furlong out and go on for a length-and-three-quarters successs. Celestial Fable kept on to grab the runner-up spot.
The winner had been placed on six of his eight starts before today, including good efforts over ten furlongs at the Curragh on his last two outings.
“His last couple of runs have been solid. He had been very weak but has strengthened up over the summer,” said Lordan afterwards. “He stays well and he's better going further.”
