He may have disappointed at odds of 30/100 when last seen in the silver medal spot in a three runner beginners chase at Gowran on February 13th. However, Young Finnegan who reportedly burst a blood vessel on that occasion, bounced back to land the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Beginners Chase at Fairyhouse today.

The lightly-raced Melanie Forbes-owned and Robert Tyner-trained ten-year-old, with Phillip Enright in the plate, was 5/2 second market choice behind Pistol Park this time.

Young Finnegan led or disputed through this two miler, he took over travelling best entering the straight, and he went clear from before the last.

Enright could afford to ease his mount close home and still have three and a half lengths in hand over Vercingetorix

"He looked a serious horse in his bumper and maiden hurdle days. It's nice to get the win and I'm delighted for the owner who has stuck with him," remarked Tyner.

"It was a great display of jumping but he would not run on anything quicker than that. He's just come right in the last few days, and looks really well."

S.W. Flanagan, rider of Deep Inspiration trained by J.A.Berry, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was pulled up having lost his action during this race.
